Load Time is one of fourteen website design guidelines identified by the Mequoda Group as being essential to sound, effective website design. We identified these website design guidelines by reviewing hundreds of websites and interviewing dozens of website publishers.

Two phenomena contribute to the users expectation of download time: Broadband has dramatically shortened download time and people are no longer going to the Web to be entertained. Sites that download in under 15 seconds on a 56K will get an A in this criteria.
